At Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn, they believe “All You Need Is Love.”

Students and teachers ended the 2015-2016 school year with “A Beatles Musical Revue,” a loving tribute to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Members of the academy’s Adelphian Masquers Drama Society and Theater Arts Program, in association with the Adelphian Players Community Theater Organization, took center stage for the special tribute to one of the world’s most influential rock and roll bands.

The show, which took place in the auditorium of the academy at 8515 Ridge Blvd. in Bay Ridge, featured more than two dozen timeless Beatles hits, from “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Let it Be” to the closing number “All You Need Is Love.”

Members of the Lower School Chorus, led by teacher Alana Dauter, performed renditions of “Good Day Sunshine,” “Twist and Shout” and “Birthday.”

The Middle School and Upper School Chorus sang several numbers together, including “Hello, Goodbye,” “Love Me Do,” Hey Jude,” “I Get By with a Little Help from My Friends,” “In My Life” and “Help!”

The audience was clapping and singing along throughout the entire show.

Soloists were also given the chance to shine on Adelphi’s stage. Class Valedictorian Arthur Furman performed “Something” and “And I Love Her.” His younger brother, Eric Furman, performed “I Will” and was joined by Arthur for a harmonized duet of “Yesterday.”

Upper School students Regina Levy, Milana Gurevich, Nicole Fabian and Konstantin Zhuravlov joined the Furman brothers to perform “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and teacher Nikki Fregara joined Zhuravlov, Levy and Arthur Furman to sing “Don’t Let Me Down.”

The singers were accompanied by the Adelphi Faculty & Staff Band, featuring Albert C. Corhan on drums, percussion and guitar; Marc Hermann on guitar, harmonica and recorder; Ryan Chappell on bass guitar; and Musical Director Robert Bates on piano, keyboard and percussion. Corhan is also the academy’s director of operations.

The show was put together under the musical direction of Robert Bates, Theater Art Coordinator Christine Colacrai, Sarah Hermann and Nikki Fregara

“It was truly a very enjoyable experience watching the students as they were getting to know The Beatles in preparation for this very special performance; some more intimately and some for the first time,” Head of School Iphigenia Romanos said. “I hope that the music of The Beatles is something that the students will always appreciate and also something that they will associate with their good memories of Adelphi.”
