Fix it up or tear it down?

We’re waiting to see what happens to our favorite Williamsburg house, 61 S. 4th St., when its sale is finalized.

The decrepit but beautiful red-brick rowhouse on the corner of Wythe Avenue is in contract, listing broker Capri Jet Realty Corp.’s website indicates. The asking price had been $3.05 million.

The vacant four-family house has about 3,500 square feet of living space — and a much sought-after amenity for car owners, a two-car garage, the broker’s listing says.

According to a Zillow.com posting, the stately old house had been on and off the market since December 2014.

Two things make us wonder what will become of the handsome house.

One thing is that the house needs to be gut-renovated, the broker’s website notes. This past February, city Buildings Department records show, a full vacate order was issued because of the “partial collapse” of the house’s first and second floors.

The other thing is that adjacent property 63 S. 4th St. is also in contract, according to Capri Jet Realty Corp.’s website. The asking price for this four-unit residential building had been $2.999 million.

If one purchaser buys both properties, together they could make a tidy little development site.

To stave off our anxiety about the possible fate of our favorite Billyburg house, we took pictures of assorted neighborhood eye candy.
