Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy announces 2016 Books Beneath the Bridge lineup
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy has announced the full lineup for its fourth annual Books Beneath the Bridge series, which begins Monday, July 11.
Sponsored by AT&T, this summer’s literary series, which features free outdoor readings curated by local, independent bookstores, will run for six consecutive Mondays at Pier 1’s Granite Prospect. This weekly program will feature a Poetry Salon and readings by several critically acclaimed authors, including Emma Straub and Rebecca Schiff, all framed by views of the sunset against the New York skyline. The events are free and open to the public.
“Now in its fourth year, Books Beneath the Bridge has established itself as one of our most loved series of the summer season,” said Nancy Webster, executive director of Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. “Books Beneath the Bridge continues to delight Brooklyn Bridge Park visitors thanks to our local, independent bookstore partners that curate such lively and creative content year after year.”
“Books Beneath the Bridge is tailor-made for Pier 1’s Granite Prospect,” said Regina Myer, president of Brooklyn Bridge Park. “We are thrilled to see such an impressive lineup for this year’s series and look forward to hearing from each of these incredible writers.”
“Greenlight is excited to take part in one of our favorite Brooklyn summer traditions with Books Beneath the Bridge again,” said Jessica Stockton Bagnulo of Fort Greene’s Greenlight Bookstore. “We’re bringing dynamic poets to the park with this year’s collaboration with poetry collective The Conversation. Nothing will make you love this city more than listening to powerful words and voices from across the nation, with the Brooklyn Bridge as the backdrop.”
