A man was slashed in a vicious attack on the hot and crowded sidewalk in front of Shake Shack at the intersection of Fulton and Adams streets in Downtown Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses said that two middle-aged men were arguing there at roughly 3 p.m. when one of them pulled out a knife and sliced open the other man’s arm.

Officers from the 84th Precinct responded almost immediately, witnesses said. Shake Shack was placed on lockdown by cops following the slashing.

Chaplain Aaron Williams, who saw the stabbing from inside the restaurant, said the victim suffered a severe 10- to 12-inch cut to the inside of his arm. “I was able to see the bone,” he said.

Williams estimated that both the attacker and victim were in their 50s and that they knew each other. “They had a disagreement,” he said.

A security guard on the scene confirmed Williams account of the incident.

Williams praised the response of officers from the 84th Precinct, who arrested the alleged attacker and tied shirts and a belt around the victim’s arm in a dramatic bid to save his life.

“The 84th Precinct — they’re heroes,” he said.

But it took more than 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive, he alleged.

“The guy lost a tremendous amount of blood, and in this heat — it’s 98 degrees,” he said.

Williams’ organization, the We Care Coalition, centered in Brownsville and Crown Heights, is concerned with bringing awareness to response to 911 calls, he said.

“We want to find out how many buses [ambulances] respond. It can make a difference in a person’s life,” he said. “Everything is focused on the police, not bus response and how quickly 911 calls are sent out,” he said. “It’s not the NYPD all the time, let’s be fair,” he said.

The victim was taken to New York Methodist Hospital in serious condition, an FDNY spokesperson told the Brooklyn Eagle.

The Eagle has reached out to NYPD and FDNY for more details. Check back for updates.
