The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA) hosted its annual membership party at Borough Hall in Downtown Brooklyn on Wednesday, where it honored its members who are also members of the judiciary.

“Tonight we honor those members of the judiciary who are members of the BWBA,” said BWBA President Sara Gozo. “We here of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association are fortunate to have so many members of the judiciary as members.”

There are more than 50 members of Brooklyn’s judiciary who are also members of the BWBA, and nearly all were in attendance on Wednesday. This made it easy for Gozo to show off the benefits of the organization; new, old and prospective members had the chance to mingle with the justices.

“As I see it, the world is divided up into two groups — those who are members of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association and those who aspire to be members of the BWBA,” Gozo said.

Gozo also discussed the purpose of the group and touted its benefits to the perspective and new members. The BWBA also gave out membership pins, raffled off 15 pairs of cufflinks, took complimentary headshots and discussed upcoming events.

“Our membership entitles you to attend our ‘Lunch with a Judge’ program,” Gozo said. “It’s a great program where you get to meet with the judges in a more intimate setting. Our kickoff event for ‘Lunch with a Judge’ will be Oct. 5 at the Appellate Division. It will be lunch with Justice Randall T. Eng. On Oct. 13, we will have a ‘Lunch with a Judge’ program with the Honorable Sylvia G. Ash.”

Gozo also discussed the upcoming holiday party, which will be held at the Brooklyn Bar Association in Brooklyn Heights on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. For more information on upcoming BWBA events, visit www.brooklynwomensbar.org.
