A Fontbonne Hall Academy student has distinguished herself by being named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program, according to school officials. Isabella Grillo earned the honor through a strong academic performance, Fontbonne Hall Principal Mary Ann Spicijaric said.

Grillo will be presented with a Letter of Commendation from National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, and will also receive a letter from her school.

Located at 9901 Shore Road in Bay Ridge, Fontbonne Hall Academy is a Catholic high school for girls.

Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their academic achievements. The students placed among the top 5 percent out of more than 1.6 million students who entered the competition when they took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
