P.S. 102 celebrates Chinese New Year
Brooklyn Lion Club Performs Lion Dance for Children
P.S. 102 – The Bayview School at 211 72nd Street in Bay Ridge celebrated Chinese New Year last Thursday with a lion dance, a celebration that is intended to bring good luck, good fortune and prosperity to everyone. The event was held to educate students about the lunar Chinese New Year of the Rooster.
Councilmember Vincent Gentile spoke at the event. “This is not only a fun event, but many children have never seen the lion dance, so that makes this also an educational event,” he said.
Event sponsor Key Liew told the Brooklyn Eagle, “We are the Brooklyn Lion Club. Our goal is to continue to promote the Chinese lion dance culture. We love to give back to the community with lion dance performances at grand openings, weddings, birthdays or any special occasions.”
