KASHMIR — Village Buries Rebel: A Kashmiri village woman throws candies on the body of Kashmiri rebel Irfan Ahmed, who was killed in a gun battle with Indian government forces, during his funeral in Haf-Shirmal, Indian-controlled Kashmir, on Tuesday. Four rebels and an army soldier were killed in three gun battles, officials said.

Wildfires whipped by powerful winds swept through Northern California sending residents on a headlong flight to safety through smoke and flames as homes burned.

AUSTRALIA – Solar Car: The Stanford Solar Car Project car from the U.S. competes during the first day of the 2017 World Solar Challenge near Darwin, Australia on Sunday. 42 Solar cars from 21 different countries left Darwin today for a 3,000 km race to Adelaide.
