It’s irresistible.

Even when temps are in the 30s and the wind whips wildly over the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge draws crowds of visitors.

Selfie-snappers from myriad nations and New Yorkers in need of a breath of fresh — and very cold — air all flock to the pedestrian walkway of the famed span, which was built by the Roeblings in the 19th century.

The sight of sunset over the waters of New York Harbor keeps lots of shutterbugs up on the bridge past the point that their bare fingers go numb. Only a lucky few have gloves made for taking cellphone photos.
By the way, some renegade romantics have defied the city’s ban on clamping “Love Locks” onto the Brooklyn Bridge. Padlocks embellished with couples’ names and declarations of devotion were hanging in several spots on the bridge this past weekend.

The city Department of Transportation periodically cuts the so-called Love Locks off the bridge.

Signs are posted warning of a $100 fine for hanging them on the famous span.
