IRAQ — Gunshots Ring Out: A woman holds her daughters as gunshots are heard in a neighborhood recently liberated by Iraqi security forces in western Mosul on Tuesday.

NEPAL — Police Tear Down Temporary Homes: A woman cries as her temporary home was torn down by police in a quake victims’ shelter in downtown Kathmandu on Tuesday. Police tore down hundreds of temporary homes in the Nepalese capital where people who lost their homes in the 2015 earthquake have been living for two years.

GREECE — Refugees Still Stranded: A migrant woman passes graffiti on the wall as she carries supplies at the refugee camp of Ritsona on Tuesday. More than 62,000 refugees and migrants are stranded in Greece after a series of Balkan border closures and a European Union deal a year ago with Turkey to stop migrant flows.

RUSSIA — Leaders Skip Parades and Celebrations: In this Saturday photo, people walk along the Zimny Palace at Dvortsovaya Square in St. Petersburg. A century after the days that shook the world, the anniversary of the 1917 revolution in Russia is being marked with little official fanfare from the Kremlin. It once was celebrated with pomp and parades but it now no longer fits the narrative of political and religious leaders.
