Attorneys Sacco, Aidala Share Coveted BRCC Civic Award

Two very well-known and very active Bay Ridgeites will share the Bay Ridge Community Council (BRCC)’s prestigious Civic Award, to be given out when the council holds its 66th annual dinner dance at the Rex Manor on June 1.

This may be the first time both awardees are practicing attorneys. Ilene Sacco is best known for her civic endeavors in Bay Ridge — she headed the 68th Precinct Community Council for several years and for the past two years has aided Merchants of Third Avenue President Bob Howe and his officers in establishing the Friday night Summer Stroll on 3rd  as the most successful in the city’s Weekend Walks program.

Arthur Aidala, at first known as the son of attorney Louis Aidala and grandson of famed Madison Square Garden referee Arthur Aidala, has gained his own niche as a criminal trial lawyer and a regular commentator on Fox News.

The BRCC is headed this year by President Ralph Succar, aided by Bob Kassenbrock and an outstanding roster of officers.

Over the past six decades, the BRCC Civic Award has come to symbolize the volunteer nature of the greater Bay Ridge community. The BRCC is the longest-lasting civic umbrella organization in this city. Among those who have received this award in past years are state Sen. (then not an official) Marty Golden, Howe and New York state Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long.
