The Kings County Conservative Party, formed in 1962, held its annual brunch Sunday at the Bay Ridge Manor.  The event was hosted by Brooklyn Conservative Party Chairman and Marty Golden’s Chief of Staff Jerry Kassar. Also attending were Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long and Republican City Council candidates Bob Capano, Liam McCabe and John Quaglione.

This year’s recipient of the Ronald Reagan Americanism Award was real estate broker and civic leader Sandy Vallas.

Vallas is active on the Dyker Heights Civic Association, works in education as a Trustee to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church and is involved with the Fort Hamilton Parents Association.

As President of the Greek American Property Owners Association and as a concerned citizen, he always puts his energy and time into his community. Vallas was honored because he embodies the volunteer spirit and civic responsibility for which the Ronald Reagan Americanism Award was established by the Brooklyn Conservatives.

Vallas said that he was proud to be honored, proud to be a member of the Bay Ridge community and that being a volunteer is his way of giving back to his community.

The Brooklyn Conservatives also presented state Sen. Simcha Felder with an award from the NYS Conservative Party for the best Conservative Party rating among NYS senators.

In addition, New York mayoral candidates Rev. Michel Faulkner and Bo Dietl both spoke at the event.

Faulkner is a former professional football player who was a defensive lineman for the Jets during the 1981-’82 NFL season.

Dietl is a former New York City Police Department detective and a contributor to the Fox News Network and the “Imus in the Morning” radio show.

“The event was a great success and Sandy Vallas was a fine honoree,” Kassar told the Brooklyn Eagle. “Bo Dietl and the Rev. Michel Faulkner were enlightening, and the crowd all seemed to enjoy their afternoon.”
