Students from Our Saviour’s Lutheran Preschool recently participated in Bay Ridge Rocks, a local community-based art experience that has children of all ages searching for painted rocks hidden throughout Bay Ridge.

Anyone can participate in the project. All they have to do is paint a rock with any design they choose, tag the back with the Bay Ridge Rocks Facebook page, and then hide it.

The finder is encouraged to post a picture on Facebook so everyone can see the rock. You then have the choice to either keep it or hide it again for others to find.

Bay Ridge Rocks have been found in Owl’s Head Park, Shore Road Park and various other places throughout the neighborhood. Willie Wonka Bar rocks, butterflies, flower rocks and smiley face rocks are just a few of the designs found.

At Our Saviour’s Lutheran Preschool, the pre-K students of the Green Room had fun painting their own rocks and finding their classmates’.

“The students loved creating their own masterpieces on rocks,” Green Room teacher Denise Alexander told the Brooklyn Eagle. “We practiced hiding and finding the painted rocks in our own garden during the school day.  Each child loved finding the rocks of their classmates and then re-hiding them.

“The children brought home their rocks last Thursday and we are hoping to track each rock’s journey throughout our neighborhood,” she added.

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Preschool Executive Director Alice Mulligan said, “The teachers and students from the Green Room are having so much fun with this. It is wonderful to see your preschoolers engaged in this local community-wide activity. The positive messages depicted on the rocks echoes the concepts of kindness that are at the core of everything we do at Our Saviour’s. Bay Ridge Rocks!”
