Trinity College in Dublin was among the stops on a nine-day tour of Ireland, England and Scotland taken by a group of Bishop Kearney High School students this spring, a journey that gave the teens the opportunity to see sights they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Accompanied by chaperones, 21 students enjoyed the history, culture and landscape of the three countries, soaking up the atmosphere and learning a great deal along the way.

Bishop Kearney is a Catholic high school for girls located at 2200 60th St. in Bensonhurst.

In other news, students studying Italian wrote articles that were published in that language in the 2017 edition of Il Giornalino, a publication of Queens College.

Joseph Grosso, of Queens College’s John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, created the Italian Journal Il Giornalino to highlight the writing of students studying Italian in high schools throughout New York City and Long Island.

The purpose of the Italian Journal are to expose students to the Italian language, foster interest in the Italian language and strengthen Italian language programs in high schools and colleges.

Students were asked to submit samples of their Italian writing, in whatever form they choose, essay, poetry, fiction or non-fiction.
