THE LEDE: Good morning! Senator Chuck Schumer warns that Trump’sproposed tax overhaul means “crumbs at best” for most of us, and the NYC Ferry Service debuts to a rough start…meanwhile, Brooklyn has a stake in the Kentucky Derby this year, and last weekend was quite a weekend for bikes of all kinds. ~”CRUMBS AT BEST” FOR THE REST: U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer warns that Trump’s proposed tax overhaul – which whittles down the number of tax brackets from seven to three – favors the wealthy so strongly that it will end uphurting middle class New Yorkers. “President Trump’s plan includes massive tax cuts for the very wealthy, and crumbs — at best — for everyone else,” said Schumer in a statement. The senator vows to fight to preserve the state and local property tax deductions that would be eliminated under POTUS’ proposal. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~ROUGH WATERS FOR NYC FERRY SERVICE: Don’t try to avoid MTA train delays by hopping on one of the new ferries just yet…NYC Ferry Service hada rocky start yesterday. A boat that was pulled from service for mechanical issues left an hour-long delay and some irate Brooklynites in its wake. (via amNewYork)

~DREAM ON, BROOKLYN: The 3-year-old colt that’s expected to be the favorite or second pick in the Kentucky Derby has deep ties to Brooklyn. The horse, named Always Dreaming, is a member of Brooklyn Boyz stable, which is owned and operated by two men whose friendship stretches 51 years back to their early days growing up in Williamsburg. ~BECAUSE BROOKLYN COULD ALWAYS USE MORE MURALS: The developer of the towering mixed-use complex on Flatbush Ave. whereBoerum Hill and Downtown Brooklyn meet thinks the complex could use some color (for a while, at least). The developer is offering a $50,000 budget for an artist to create a mural that will live for two years. The offer closes June 12. (via DNAinfo)

~“YAHOOS IN THE STREET” NO MORE: David August Trimble organized the very first Red Hook Criterium bicycle race in 2008 for the simple purpose of making “a race that’s super fun and gets people to come to [his] birthday party.” Since then, the event has grown into a well-oiled machine with races around the world…and organizers have their sights set on more. ~BLESSED BE THESE BIKES: Dozens of motorcycles rumbled intoGreenpoint last weekend for the seventh annual Bike Blessing, when a priest sent the Harleys into the springtime riding season with a safety blessing. Bikers from across the tristate region gathered for the blessing. (via News 12)

~MAP OF THE DAY: Scaffolding, scaffolding everywhere. In a sweep last year, officials discovered 150 completed projects that were still needlessly standing. Now, as city officials take heat for not doing enough to police the ubiquitous scaffolding fixtures across the city, the Buildings Department hascreated a map that keeps track. Meanwhile, City Council ponders legislation targeting scaffolding stragglers. (via the NYT)

ON THE PITCH: Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola would have been elated with the New York Cosmos’ game-winning goal last weekend. Making his first NASL start, the 28-year-old Argentine Emmanuel Ledesma scored on a chip in the 69th minute that will likely go down as one of the best of the season.
