A woman discovers 27 contact lenses in her right eye. Brooklyn Heights’ most expensive house needs some work. A preschooler smokes pot, and China isn’t a fan of Winnie-the-Pooh. Yes, you read that right.

~$12.9M BK HEIGHTS PAD SOLD BY KUSHNER IS A FIXER UPPER: The second most expensive house in Brooklyn is already in fine, fine shape, but it’s still set to undergo some renovations. On Tuesday, the city Landmarks Preservation Commission voted unanimously to approve exterior work at 27 Monroe Place. The Brooklyn Heights pad was sold for a whopping $12.9 million by Kushner Cos., which Jared Kushner headed before becoming senior adviser to his father-in-law, President Donald Trump(via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~SUMMER OF HELL CONTINUES: The L train hasn’t shut down yet, but commuters are already bracing for change as southbound N train service will skip seven stations for one-and-a-half years starting July 31. The stations will get shiny new paint jobs and renovations to modernize the more than 100-year old stations that have gotten pounded by multiple hurricanes. While the project costs nearly $400 million, Assemblymember Robert Carroll unveiled asix-point plan to identify potential funding sources for the MTA, which includes making “uncomfortable choices” like eliminating the construction of the $2.5 billion BQX streetcar. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~BROOKLYN’S BIZARRE BURGLARIES: Like a plot out of an early 1900s crime film, a group of thieves snatched a bag of cash filled with $80,000from a Brooklyn businessman. The wealthy 24-year-old refused to give up his North Face backpack before the robbers whipped out a gun on him inSheepshead Bay. Another thief on the north side of the borough madeGreenpoint his playground and is ready for some serious arcade playing afterhe snatched $1,000 in coins from a laundromat. His payday included $500 in cash before he disappeared into the night. (via NYDN and DNAinfo)

~CREATING A BUZZ IN BROOKLYN: The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is known for its sweeping views of the Manhattan Skyline and East River Bridges, but the real sight is the Promenade Garden, which lines the 1,826-foot-long walkway. The green space boasts four-season species of colorful flowers and various other plants, which are all maintained by the public. The beautiful garden also brings in wildlife like squirrels, birds and bees. Speaking of bees, an East Flatbush woman recently found 35,000 bees living in her apartment ceiling. A local beekeeper was called in to remove the critters using a special low-pressure vacuum. He then set them free at a hive in Bed-Stuy.(via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and Fox 5)

~NOT All SMOOTH SAILING FOR MENCHACA: The good news for Councilmember Carlos Menchaca is that he’s been endorsed by U.S. RepJerry Nadler in his quest to hold the City Council seat in the 48th District. Menchaca had previously received the endorsement of U.S. Rep Nydia Velazquez. But it may not be all be smooth sailing into the sunset for Menchaca now that Assemblymember Felix Ortiz is officially challenging him for the City Council seat. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
