CANADA — Rainbow Fills Sky: Two men fish under a rainbow in Portsmouth Harbour in Ontario on Monday.

GUATEMALA — Prison Riot Breaks Out: Young men who were serving time inside the Juvenile Correctional Center Gaviotas when a riot broke out the previous day stand inside a shared cell inside a courtroom where a judge will read the charges against them in Guatemala City on Tuesday. Monday’s riot began when two inmates were found dead, hanging in an apparent suicide, according to authorities. Apart from the two dead, 10 inmates were reported to have escaped from the center, of whom six were recaptured.

THAILAND — Preparing for Lent: Workers remove a Buddha statue at a shop in Bangkok on Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming Buddhist Lent. Buddhist monks return to their monasteries to study the teachings of Lord Buddha during the three-month-long Buddhist Lent, which starts on July 9.

ECUADOR — President Promotes National Dialogue: Indigenous leaders march to the government palace to meet with President Lenin Moreno in Quito on Tuesday. Moreno is calling for a national dialogue with all sectors of the country, including business leaders, opposition politicians and union leaders.

DUMBO — Fighting a Fire: As fun-seekers poured into DUMBO hoping to get a good seat for the Macy’s fireworks display at roughly 6 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters from Brooklyn’s Ladder Company 118 scaled a six-story loft building at 57 Jay St. to extinguish a fire reported on a lower floor. A crowd gathered on the sidewalk below to watch the firefighters, with air cylinders strapped to their backs, climb to a dizzying height, and then swing off the ladder onto the roof at the top. INDIA — Residents Face Floods: A boy on a makeshift banana raft crosses flood waters as another boy paddles a boat in Burgaon on Wednesday. Heavy rains since the start of India’s monsoon season have triggered floods and landslides in parts of the remote northeastern region, causing at least 20 deaths, authorities said Wednesday.

IRAQ – Continuing Advance: Fleeing Iraqi civilians walk past the heavily damaged al-Nuri mosque as Iraqi forces continue their advance against Islamic State militants in the Old City of Mosul, Iraq, Tuesday. As Iraqi forces continued to advance on the last few hundred square kilometers of Mosul held by the Islamic State group, the country’s Prime Minister said Tuesday the gains show Iraqis reject terrorism.
