~JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES SELL 2 MORE PRIME BROOKLYN HEIGHTS PROPERTIES: California Dreamin’ — on Columbia Heights. A Los Angeles-based real-estate investment firm is the buyer of two prime Watchtower residential properties located in the Brooklyn Heights Historic District. Hawkins Way Capital has closed on the purchase of 117-125 Columbia Heights for $18 million and expects to close a deal for 97 Columbia Heights later this month, according to an announcement by Leslie J. Garfield Real Estate, the brokerage repping the buyer. “Hawkins Way Capital’s flexibility, creative underwriting and strong backing made them the perfect fit for these unique trophy assets, which were meticulously maintained over the years by [the] Watchtower,” Matthew Lesser said. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~NADLER WANTS TO CENSURE PRSIDENT TRUMP: U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman and U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapalare leading the bold step to defy a sitting president in an official censure vote in the House of Representatives following President Trump’s comments about Charlottesville. “Congress must send a clear message,” Nadler wrote on Twitter, along with the hashtag #CensureTrump. If successful, it will be the first time since 1848 that the House has taken such an action. A presidential censure is a rarely used act of Congress. It serves as an official reprimand of a commander-in-chief over actions the president has taken. In 1834, the Senate voted to censure President Andrew Jackson, charging him with withholding documents relating to a move to recharter the Bank of the U.S. PresidentJames Polk was subjected to a censure vote in the House in 1848 over the Mexican-American War. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~EXTREMELY AGAINST EXTREMISM IN PARK SLOPE: Hundreds of anti-extremists gathered around the famous arch in Grand Army Plaza — a monument that will likely not be taken down — to protest violent extremismInvisible Nation BK originally organized the event in response to President Trump’s fiery comments to North Korea, but the theme changed when Nazis and KKK members violently took to the streets of Charlottesville to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. “One of the things a protest or rally offers is knowing you’re not alone in your outrage, and reminding us of all the work we have to do,” said co-founder of Invisible Nation BK Liat Olenick. Proud protesters were also supported and joined by local politicians, including Councilmember Jumaane Williams, Public Advocate Letitia James and Assemblymember Robert Carroll(via the Brooklyn Paper)

~PARK YOUR DOG HERE: Alternate side of the street dog parking may soon be coming to Brooklyn’s streets, considering there’s already roughly 30 public and sealed dog houses in the borough. Right out of Bed-Stuy, Dog Parker started as an answer for frustrated dog owners who wanted their pups to tag along with them without taking the risk of tying the canines up like bicycles in the street. With its new headquarters at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the ambitious company hopes to install the air-conditioned (or heated in the winter) dog houses throughout the city. The company is looking to expand to 63 more cities, as well. The fee is $25 a year or $0.20 a minute, but skeptics are able to test the cubbies out free for a week. In the very near future, Dog Parker will install two houses in front of the Brooklyn Public Library’s central branch and celebrate the company’s expansion with a party. (via Brooklyn Magazine)

EAGLE SPORTS: Matt Harvey’s career has been a roller coaster ride for sure. The Dark Knight has gone from mercurial prospect to big league stud to gossip-page fodder to oft-injured right-hander since the New York Metsselected him with the seventh overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft. That’s why he fit in quite nicely with the Brooklyn Cyclones Wednesday night at Coney Island’s MCU Park, home of the world’s most celebrated and historic amusement ride. “It was my first time here,” Harvey said after breezing through three scoreless frames in his second rehab start with the team by the sea in front of 4,027 curious onlookers. “It was cool to see the roller coaster in the background, and all the guys were great.” So was Harvey, who needed just 36 pitches, including 26 strikes, to mow down the visiting Aberdeen IronBirds over the first three frames during Brooklyn’s eventual 6-2 loss. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
