“He embodies the heart and soul of our motto ‘We are Brooklyn-Law,’ and we are delighted to add him as name partner,” Fensterman added.

Carone, who has served as executive partner at Abrams Fensterman since 2012, didn’t know about the name change until just before it was announced. He told the Brooklyn Eagle that he raised the idea of shortening the name, but added that at least this way, his former partners Steve Eisman, who passed away, and Robert Fensterman, who retired, are still honored.

“It’s not something that motivates me, recognition of a name,” Carone said. “It’s not really relevant to me. Too many firms in Brooklyn have too much unjustified ego involved, and I like to be opposite of that. But it was fait accompli, and I learned in politics to just go along with something when it’s a done deal.”

A former U.S. Marine, Carone’s philosophy in business and life is often team-oriented, which is why he said he prefers not to include his name.

“In the Marines, you are faceless, nameless, part of a unit,” Carone said. “That’s how we are here. We’re a unit, we work together, spend time together and work toward achieving goals together.”

Carone’s partners weren’t surprised to hear that he wanted to avoid the recognition of adding his name to the masthead, but said that he’s accomplished so much for the firm that it was necessary.

“His name should be in the name,” said RoseAnn C. Branda, one of the executive partners at Abrams Fensterman. “Frank has a passion, and his entire heart and soul is into the development and furtherment of the entire Abrams Fensterman firm. He gives 150 percent of his effort every day. If anyone’s name needs to be added it was his.”

“Frank has taken things by storm,” said partner Anthony Genovesi. “That’s how he operates.

I think adding his name is well deserved and it’s fantastic to see it happen. I want a shorter name also, but I think he really belongs there. There are a lot of terrific names in this law firm and he’s one of them.”

Carone was born and raised in Canarsie and currently serves as counsel to the Chairman of the Kings County Democratic County Committee, a role he has held for nearly 10 years. He regularly represents members of the party, including elected officials. In 2011, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed Carone to the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission. In 2015, Mayor Bill de Blasio extended his term to 2022.

Carone is also active within the Brooklyn Bar Association, where he serves as the first vice president, and the Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn. He is also a member of the NYS Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Association of Bank Directors, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.
