The puppies are among new arrivals of abandoned dogs flown out of Puerto Rico, which is struggling with a pet overpopulation problem. The country’s financial crisis has prompted many people to abandon animals. “They came here to be happy and have fun,” said Crivello.

YEMEN — Airstrikes Leave Dozens Dead: People inspect the rubble of houses destroyed by Saudi-led airstrikes in Sanaa on Friday. Airstrikes by a Saudi-led coalition targeted Yemen’s capital early on Friday, hitting at least three houses in Sanaa and killing at least 14 civilians, including women and children, residents and eyewitnesses said.

SPAIN — Remembering Victims: A young member of Muslim community takes part in a tribute for the victims of the attacks in Barcelona city and Cambrils, in Pamplona on Friday. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attacks on Aug. 17-18 in Barcelona and Cambrils that left 15 dead and more than 120 injured. Eight suspects are dead and four more under investigation, two of them in jail. The banner reads ”Not in my name. Islam is the same to Peace.”

PERU – Skeletal Remains: The remains of one of the recently discovered 19th century Chinese immigrants lies at Huaca Bellavista in Lima, Peru, Thursday. According to the Ministry of Culture of Peru, the tombs where located in a pre-Inca sacred site because Chinese immigrants could not be buried in the Catholic cemeteries of the time.

BRAZIL – Stranded Whale: People work to save a humpback whale stranded on the shore at Rasa Beach in Buzios, Brazil, Thursday. With the help of hundreds of people and the return of the high tide, the whale returned to the ocean.
