CALIFORNIA — Protesters Arrested During Rally: Demonstrators clash during a free speech rally on Sunday in Berkeley. Several thousand people converged in Berkeley for a “Rally Against Hate” in response to a planned right-wing protest that raised concerns of violence and triggered a massive police presence. Several people were arrested for violating rules against covering their faces or carrying items banned by authorities.

VENEZUELA — Trump Sparks Military Exercises: A militia member shouts slogans during a speech by Gen. Carlos Leal Telleria, commander of the Venezuelan Bolivarian Militia, in Fort Tiuna on Friday. President Nicolas Maduro ordered military exercises in response to President Donald Trump’s warning of possible military action to resolve the country’s crisis.

TEXAS – Dead Dog in Flipped Truck: A dead dog lies out of the passenger window of an overturned pickup truck after Hurricane Harvey landed in the Coast Bend area in Port Aransas, Texas, on Saturday. Harvey came ashore Friday along the Texas Gulf Coast as a Category 4 storm with 130 mph winds, the most powerful hurricane to hit the U.S. in more than a decade.
