Haitian immigrant gets nine years for robbing Mill Basin pharmacy, expects deportation

A 24-year-old Haitian immigrant was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday and is expected to be deported for his role in the robbery of a pharmacy on Avenue U in Mill Basin.

Wenbsby Paul, or Wensley Paul in court records, sat with his eyes partially closed and his head down as Judge Dora Irizarry handed him his sentence in Brooklyn federal court.

“What’s troubling here is the fact…you’ve had a relatively good life,” Irizarry told Paul as his family watched from the back of the courtroom.

Paul was rebelling against his “strict” father and recently moved out of his home when he committed the robbery, according to Paul’s lawyer, Mitchell Dinnerstein.

“He wanted to find a place to belong,” Dinnerstein said.

Dinnerstein added that Paul had a hard time adjusting to U.S. culture after emigrating from Haiti about eight years ago.

On Sept. 27, 2016, Paul stood near the entrance of Mill Park Pharmacy at 6602 Avenue U while two other men robbed the store at gunpoint, according to court filings.

Gregory St. Juste pulled out a gun and demanded the “Oxy,” and said to a clerk, “If you turn back around, I’m going to shoot you.”

Max Narcisse Jr. then allegedly grabbed 20 packs of cigarettes, cash and other items before the group drove away in a Nissan Altima allegedly driven by Jeff Roselien.

Cops pulled them over shortly after as the Nissan was suspected in at least three other pharmacy robberies.

Irizarry explained to Paul that he could serve extra time in custody while awaiting his probable deportation to Haiti.

St. Juste is awaiting sentencing and Narcisse and Roselien have yet to be convicted.

Paul pleaded guilty to the charges on March 20.
