A group of young adults got the chance to meet and interact at a free event at Coney Island’s MCU Park last Thursday evening as part of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s (BCC) Young BK Professionals.

After enjoying some food, drink and camaraderie, the 76 attendees had the opportunity to stay and enjoy a Brooklyn Cyclones game. Young BK Professionals supports the growth of young professionals and helps foster the future leaders of Brooklyn.

Through this initiative, young professionals are able to build meaningful relationships in a variety of industries, access a large network of resources and create personal and professional opportunities.

Young adults from a wide variety of companies/organizations attended the event, including Brooklyn Academy of Music, NYU Langone Medical Center and Chase. The event was open to anyone age 35 and under who lives and/or works in the borough.

The event took place in two suites and the evening’s speakers were Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Andrew Hoan; Brooklyn Cyclones general manager Steve Cohen; Assemblymember Pamela Harris; founder/Chief Solutions Architect at Codacity and Young BK Professionals Chairman Jonathan J. Judge; and Community Board 13 District Manager Eddie Mark.

“It’s a home run for Brooklyn when we can connect young professionals to one another, especially in a setting that is fun and iconic like MCU Park in Coney Island,” Hoan said. “We’d like to thank our Young BK Committee for putting this together, and we’d especially like to thank Steve Cohen and his staff at the Brooklyn Cyclones for hosting this wonderful event.”

Judge praised Hoan and the BCC for supporting the event. “It has been an exciting time working under Andrew’s leadership at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to help cultivate Brooklyn’s young professional community,” said Judge.

“Thursday’s spectacular event at the Brooklyn Cyclones, which brought together so many young professionals from different industries and from every corner of Brooklyn, is just a taste of what we have planned going forward.”

The BCC called the event a resounding success, although the Cyclones lost 3-1 to the Tri-City ValleyCats.
