Hundreds marched in Wiesel’s hometown, the scene of mass deportation of Jews to Nazi death camps in 1944.

CHILE — Country Commemorates Military Coup Anniversary: A man with a wolf mask dances next to Chilean musician Victor Jara’s tomb inside the General Cemetery in Santiago on Sunday. Chile is commemorating another anniversary of the 1973 military coup that toppled Chilean President Salvador Allende and began the military dictatorship of Gen. Augusto Pinochet. The musician dressed as a wolf as to commemorate verses in Jara’s music. The famed musician was killed by the regime.

PHILIPPINES — People Demonstrate Against Late Dictator: Protesters display placards during a rally near the gates of the Heroes Cemetery to protest a Mass and ongoing celebration for the late Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos on his 100th birthday on Monday in Taguig. The protesters also scored President Rodrigo Duterte for allowing the hero’s burial of Marcos at the national cemetery and declaring a non-working holiday at Marcos’ home province of Ilocos Norte.

KENYA — Citizens Support President: A supporter of Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta holds a placard in Swahili reading, “We will use the same razor blade,” at an election rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Saturday. The phrase is a play on words from a prison saying about being shaved without lather, and indicating they will show no mercy to opposition candidate Raila Odinga in the Oct. 17 presidential re-election.

ANGUILLA – Flipped Car: In this Wednesday photo, a man looks at a vehicle turned upside down by winds brought on by Hurricane Irma in the British overseas territory of Anguilla. Irma scraped Cuba’s northern coast Friday on a course toward Florida, leaving in its wake a ravaged string of Caribbean resort islands strewn with splintered lumber, corrugated metal and broken concrete.

BANGLADESH – Food Distribution: A Rohingya man stretches his arms out for food distributed by local volunteers, with bags of puffed rice stuffed into his vest at Kutupalong, Bangladesh, Saturday. With Rohingya refugees still flooding across the border from Myanmar, those packed into camps and makeshift settlements in Bangladesh are becoming desperate for scant basic resources and dwindling supplies. Fights are erupting over food and water. Women and children are tapping on car windows or tugging at the clothes of passing reporters while rubbing their bellies and begging for food.

FLORIDA – Protected Flamingos: Flamingos at Zoo Miami, are shown in a temporary enclosure in a hurricane resistant structure within the zoo, Saturday in Miami. Though most animals will remain in their secure structures, the cheetahs and some birds will ride out the storm in temporary housing.
