Plus, Colin Kaepernick has a job, sitting too long can kill you, and Photoville returns toDUMBO. Speaking of Dumbo (the young circus elephant, not the neighborhood), there’s a new statue honoring P.T. Barnum’s Brooklyn Bridge elephants in Battery Park. ~MATT DAMON TO BUY BOROUGH’S PRICIEST PAD: Jason Bourne is coming to Brooklyn Heights. Or at least Matt Damon, the actor who played the former CIA assassin, is. The Bostonian is reportedly in contract to buy the penthouse at the top of the former Standish Arms Hotel at 171 Columbia Heights, according to the Wall Street Journal. When all is said and done, the six-bedroom home will be the most expensive sale in Brooklyn, topping the borough’s previous price record of $15.5 million set by 117 Pacific St. inCobble Hill in 2015. The 6,218-square-foot penthouse has an asking price of $16.645 million, which is $2,677 per square foot. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~LICH DEVELOPER BAGS $297M CONSTRUCTION LOAN: After a lull period, the acceptance of a $297 million construction loan to Fortis Property Group for its redevelopment at the former Long Island College Hospital site inCobble Hill marks the way for construction of three residential buildings to continue, according to The Real Deal. Madison Realty Capital lent the sum that Fortis plans to use to complete construction at 350 Hicks St., 95 Pacific St. and 249 Henry St. Madison was the same firm that provided the $107.3 million for Fortis to buy the site in 2015. The complex is expected to feature 325,000 square feet, 172 luxury condo units, 66,900 square feet of facility space and 328 parking spots, The Real Deal reported. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~NETS OWNER BACKING OUT OF BROOKLYN: Mikhail Prokhorov came busting into Brooklyn boasting of championship banners he’d soon hang from Barclays Center rafters. It appears the Russian billionaire and Brooklyn Nets owner is tip-toeing his way back out of our fair borough, very quietly and without a championship bauble. According to a report in the New York Post last week, Prokhorov, who has previously tried in vain to sell a minority stake in the franchise without giving up his control of the team’s state-of-the-artDowntown Brooklyn arena, is now seeking a “two-part process” by which he can pull out of Nets ownership. While Brooklynites wait for their team to become relevant again on the NBA landscape, Prokhorov is simply biding his time until he can walk away from the corners of Atlantic and Flatbush avenues with a cool $2 billion in his already well-stuffed pockets. (via the Brooklyn Daily Eagle)

~WATCH OUT FOR THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE ELEPHANTS: The Brooklyn Bridge used to be adorned with elephant crossing signs. That’s not true, but neither is the story behind the new Battery Park statue commemorating the Brooklyn Bridge Elephant Stampede. Staten Island artist Joe Reginela created the sculpture, which portrays three bronze elephants, to see if people would believe his made-up tale. Rumor says three elephants were crossing the bridge in 1929 as part of the P.T. Barnum show when they were startled and began crushing humans beneath their feet. The event never happened, but P.T. Barnum’s elephants did indeed cross the bridge, and there was a stampede after the bridge’s opening in 1883, but it was human-caused. Reginela says he likes to mix fact with fiction to test people’s gullibility, and he even stakes out by the statue to see if people believe the tale. (via WNYC)

~PHOTOVILLE RETURNS TO DUMBO: The annual mini-village made out of shipping containers filled with art exhibits is returning to the cobblestoned streets of DUMBO this month. Photoville, organized by United Photo Industries, will feature more than 70 photo exhibitions as well as interactive exhibits like talks and workshops. The photo projects will tackle issues such as the global refugee crisis, climate change in Somalia and body positivity. And when viewers feel they’re filled with enough art for one day, they can grab some Brooklyn brewed beers and grub from Smorgasburg vendors. (via Hyperallergic)
