Here are Brooklyn’s top Halloween nightlife events, plus a ‘Dog Pawty’

Halloween isn’t just for kids anymore.

The witching hour, according to Merriam-Webster, isn’t until midnight, when many young ones are already tucked in bed, stomachs full of sweets.

According to Destination America, the hour between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. is the peak time for supernatural activity. That idea stems from the fact that the Catholic Church historically didn’t hold prayers or services during that time.

The best time to celebrate All Hallows’ Eve, therefore, is in the wee hours of the morning, when ironically, many of New York City’s bars and clubs are in full swing.

With that being said, the Brooklyn Eagle selected some of Brooklyn’s top nightlife events for the weekend preceding the holiday, plus Halloween itself.

Note that some of these events are 21-plus, and costumes may be mandatory.

Friday, Oct. 26

Cirque Noveau

2 Wyckoff Ave., Bushwick
10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

All roads lead to House of Yes on Friday night where DJs Chopstick & JohnJon will be playing the Cirque Noveau party.

The night’s dress code includes “dark circus, creepy clowns, side show freak and harlequin harlots.”

The Bushwick club is pulling all the strings for this one with carnival games, bearded ladies, “creepy sexy go-go clowns” (whatever that means) and many other surprises.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Howloween Dog Pawty

307 Kent Ave., Williamsburg
Noon to 3 p.m.

Dogs get to celebrate Halloween this year too at VICE’s “Howloween Dog Pawty.”

Attendees are encouraged to dress their pups up in the best costumes, and prizes will be awarded for the best outfits.

Plus, Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue will be on site with adorable dogs for adoption.

The Cityfox Halloween Festival

140 Stewart Ave., East Williamsburg
9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The Brooklyn Mirage may have outdone itself for this one.

The infamous East Williamsburg club is bringing in Lee Burridge, Bedouin, DJ Tennis, Stephan Bodzin and many, many more artists for nine hours of non-stop dancing.

Beware, this party is not for the weary.

Sunday, Oct. 28

Green-Wood Cemetery’s Twilight Tour

500 25th St., Greenwood Heights
4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

What’s spookier than taking a twilight tour of a cemetery?

Walk at moonlight among the tombs of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rev. Henry Ward Beecher and Horace Greeley at Brooklyn’s most famous graveyard.

Discover hidden 19th-century monuments, and finish the tour with an exclusive look inside the catacombs, which are normally closed to the public.

Flashlights are encouraged, and be sure to check Green-Wood’s website for ticket availability. At press time, both of Sunday’s tours were sold out, but you can still join the waitlist. Alternatively, tickets are still available to the next tour on Nov. 3.

Halloween in the Panther Room

75 Wythe Ave., Williamsburg
10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

So what if Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year? That has never stopped Brooklynites from partying on a weekday. Start planning those costumes now and prepare to get mischievous on the dance floor at Output’s Panther Room.

With Sleepy and Boo, a married house and techno DJ duo, sharing the decks with several local table masters, this one is not to be missed.
