Nearly 160 new attorneys packed into the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department Wednesday afternoon as part of two admission ceremonies at the courthouse.

The Appellate Division regularly holds the admission ceremonies at the Monroe Place courthouse about once or twice a month, as needed. Each ceremony consists of about 80 attorneys.

Each ceremony is presided over by a bench that includes five Appellate Division justices. Usually, the senior-most judge gives a speech while family and friends crowd the standing room only event.

Following the ceremony, the newly admitted attorneys each sign the Roll of Attorneys and Counselors-At-Law.
