Thousands of personal sketchbooks on display at Brooklyn Art Library
The Brooklyn Art Library at 28 Frost St. in Williamsburg has opened an exhibit known as “The Sketchbook Project,” which includes thousands of sketchbooks from around the world.
The library marries the analog with the digital. Visitors can browse thousands of sketchbooks in person and online through their Digital Library. Anyone can be a part of the project, and it’s free and open to the public to visit.
Steven Peterman, founder of the library, began the collection 10 years ago before Instagram was born. “The project isn’t just for artists, it’s for anyone who wants to explore a creative side of themselves,” Peterman said.
