Local parents protest short notice for conference on specialized high school admissions
Angry parents in Brooklyn’s high-achieving School District 15 (Carroll Gardens-Windsor Terrace-Park Slope-Sunset Park) say they were given almost no notice about a Monday meeting about a plan to change specialized high school admissions.
Community Education Council 15, a parental advisory group, said the Department of Education mailed out its agenda on Friday afternoon, according to the New York Post. A version of the agenda previously posted on Facebook didn’t mention the specialized-schools issue.
One CEC source told the Post that DOE had not confirmed its attendance at the meeting until late last week. However, DOE said that the meeting had been planned in August.
