The Long Island Bar at 110 Atlantic Ave. has been a local favorite in Cobble Hill and southern Brooklyn Heights for years. Now, according to Grub Street, co-owners Toby Cecchini and Joel Tompkins are opening their second bar, which hasn’t yet been named, at 31 Rockwell Place in Fort Greene.

Because it is a smaller, narrower space with no storage and no basement, there won’t be as many available cocktails, liquors and beers on tap. However, Cecchini told Grub Street, “We won’t pare the experience down. It’s like that line in `My Man Godfrey:’ All you need is a room and the right people.” The new bar may open as soon as late September, but likely will be opening somewhat later.
