Newly released emails show that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was scornful of “biased” local media outlets that he believed were treating him unfairly.

The New York Post reported that the Democratic mayor complained in a March 3, 2014 email of “a biased and ridiculous corporate media” that he said gave “a free ride” to former mayor Michael Bloomberg, an independent.

The Post and TV station NY1 sued to get the emails after de Blasio claimed they were exempt from the state Freedom of Information Law on grounds that his political consultants were “agents of the city.”

The courts rejected that argument. De Blasio released 14,000 pages of emails on Thursday, a day when the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Supreme Court nominee Brett Cavanaugh dominated the news cycle.
