New parking price hikes take effect in Brooklyn
Well, Brooklyn, it’s now more expensive to park on neighborhood streets. The city parking meter price hikes that are rolling out across New York City this fall have made their first landing in our borough.
The hikes vary across three different zones, with the highest new prices hitting $2 per hour, a 100 percent increase from the previous $1 hourly rate, in parts of Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn and Park Slope. Most of Brooklyn will see new prices of $1.25, with more congested areas upped to $1.50.
One Brooklyn resident told NY1 that they doubted the hikes would make that much of a difference. “They’ll take any kind of parking, because it’s impossible to park here. . . . I think most people are going to brush [the increase] off.”
