214 Richardson St. is 'the other finger building'

This Greenpoint tower looks like it was hastily thrown together, almost looking like it’s giving the finger to the neighborhood. Photos by Rob Abruzzese

Eye On Real Estate: Brooklyn's Ugliest Buildings

Brooklyn Daily Eagle

Brownstoner.com mocked this Robert Scarano-designed dark-gray brick tower – which sticks up between two low-rise buildings like it's flipping the bird – with a catchy nickname, “the other finger building.”

That's because at the end of the block, a tower designed by Karl Fischer also looks like it's flipping off the neighborhood, which real estate websites identify either as Williamsburg or as Greenpoint.

The Richardson Street tower – which has a chunk of an old red-brick wall as its front entrance and was built by developer John Ruha –  was nominated by a blogger named Miss Heather as a candidate for an online Ugliest Brooklyn Building contest a few years back. Do you think time has tamped down its ugliness?

Do you think this building is one of Brooklyn's Ugliest? What's your (un)favorite Ugly B'klyn Building? Comment below.
