5-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Bedford-Stuyvesant Bathtub

Police are looking into the death of a 5-year-old girl who apparently drowned in a bathtub in Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to WABC.

The girl was found unconscious in the tub at around 7 p.m. Thursday night by a 25-year-old man who neighbors told WABC was the girl’s stepfather. The man had left her alone in the bathroom for a few minutes before returning to check on her.

The child was rushed to Brookdale hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner’s office has yet to announce a cause of death, and the 25-year-old man is being interviewed by police. No charges have been filed.

According to the man, the young girl was talking moments before the incident and nothing seemed out of the ordinary, as reported by WABC.
