WAWARSING, N.Y.— Police in upstate New York are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash in the Catskills that injured seven members of a Brooklyn family.
Ulster County sheriff's deputies tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that the driver was making at turn on state Route 209 around 5:40 p.m. Sunday when he drove into the path of a minivan in the town of Wawarsing, 80 miles northwest of New York City.
Deputies say the vehicles collided head-on.
Police say Israel and Miriam Tyberg, both 37, and their five children ranging in age from 4 to 14 were treated at Ellenville Regional Hospital for lower back injuries and facial cuts.
A 28-year-old man riding in the other vehicle suffered a back injury. The driver fled the scene.
