DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Sports retailer Adidas has been selected to operate the Nets Shop to be located on the main concourse level of the Barclays Center, its first store in Brooklyn.

Adidas and the Nets have formed “a momentous integrated partnership,” officials say,  and will offer a full range of Nets official merchandise.

To be called “The Nets Shop by Adidas,” the store will be open to the public on opening day of the 18,000-seat arena, set for Friday, Sept. 28. The store will sell jerseys, men’s and women’s T-shirts, jackets, and other apparel and sports-related items.

While accessible from inside the arena during events, the store will also be open to residents through a direct street-level entrance along Flatbush Avenue when the arena is not hosting an event. In addition, there will be two Adidas built-in Nets merchandise stands inside the arena on the north and south sides of the main concourse, according to Nets and Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark.

“We are thrilled to form this significant partnership and to bring one of the world’s top lifestyle brands and most inventive companies to Brooklyn and Barclays Center,” Yormark said. “The Nets Shop by Adidas will enable our fans to connect with their new team through a dynamic retail experience. In bringing only the best to Brooklyn, we are honored to be associated with Adidas as it makes a major investment in the borough.”

As part of the partnership agreement, Adidas will be a fully integrated signage partner for Nets games and all other events at Barclays. In addition, the retailer will be an integral part of the Nets social and digital platforms, as well as being integrated through all of the Nets print vehicles.

“No other place in the world has such a unique mix of basketball-influenced sports and style culture,” said Nic Vu, vice president of Adidas North America, about Brooklyn.
