On Saturday, September 22 from 12 – 6 p.m. BAM celebrates the opening of its new facility—the BAM Fisher located at 321 Ashland Place—with a neighborhood block party and live music concert.  Festivities will include live musical performances, movement and percussion workshops, ongoing games, crafts, face painting, local food vendors and building tours.

Performers include the Shine and the Moonbeams, the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls All-Stars Band, comedian W. Kamau Bell, funk band Aabaraki, sets by DJ Idlemind “The Appropriate Agent,” and vocalist Alice Smith. Outdoor events will also include artist-led workshops by FOKUS and The Laundromat Project.

BAM Fisher Hillman Studio workshops can accommodate up to 30 people; free tickets will be distributed the day of the event. Admission to the BAM Fisher Block Party is free, and tours of the building will be provided at 12, 12:30, 5 and 5:30 p.m. More at www.bam.org/community/2012/bam-fisher-block-party
