The man who would be district attorney won’t present his case before the borough’s legal establishment.

Insurgent Kenneth Thompson has canceled a debate with DA Charles Hynes that was set for Tuesday at the Brooklyn Bar Association.

Association President Andrew M. Fallek said he received a phone call on Monday from a representative from Thompson’s campaign advising him that Thompson would be unable to participate in the debate. No specific reason was given at that time.

In a subsequent email received from Thompson’s campaign office at approximately 5 p.m., the campaign explained that the candidate would not be able to attend “[d]ue to a scheduling conflict.” Thompson’s campaign representative offered to work to reschedule the event, but according Fallek,, finding a new date for a debate will be next to impossible due to the candidates’ extremely tight schedules leading up to the Sept. 10 primary election.
