James Francis ("Jimmy”) Mulcahy, 93, of Bay Ridge, passed away on Jan. 6. He is survived by Janine, his beloved wife of 57 years; his sister Catherine Mulcahy Harley; sister-in-law Mary Cataldo, and all of Brooklyn.

Numerous nieces and nephews remember him lovingly; “Uncle Fran” was especially cherished by goddaughters Patricia Manning and Peggy Terry. He is predeceased by treasured brother “Buster” of Troy; beloved sister Mary Terry of Long Island; dear sister and brother-in-law Peg and Joe Callaghan of Brooklyn.

Mulcahy was a decorated WWII Army veteran of the Battle of Luzon, Philippines, and a proud member of Bay Ridge American Legion Post #157, to which donations may be made in his memory. He retired as special agent-in-charge of the U.S. Customs Service’s Hartford office.

Mulcahy was known for his Irish wit and heart, although some might say more for his mischief-making, according to his family. He will be missed as a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, his family said.
