Bay Ridge man shoots himself in the head

Police are investigating an apparent suicide attempt that took place in a Bay Ridge apartment this morning.

A New York Police Department spokeswoman said a man shot himself once in the head at approximately 10:49 a.m. The Gothamist reported that the shooting took place inside an apartment at 465 84th St.

The man, whose name and age were not released by police, was taken to Long Island College Hospital in critical condition, police said.

“It was a self-inflicted wound. There will be no arrests in this case,” the NYPD spokeswoman said.
