Bed-Stuy actress stars in ‘The Crucible’
She plays villain in Arthur Miller's allegory on McCathyism
Actress Rebekah Madebach, a Bedford-Stuyvesant resident, will tackle one of the theater’s most challenging roles when she stars as Abigail Williams in a production of Arthur Miller’s classic American drama “The Crucible,” presented by the St. Bart’s Players opening on Nov. 14.
The play will be presented at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 325 Park Ave. in Manhattan.
The St. Bart’s Players theater company is marking its 85th season with this production of the Miller classic. “The Crucible” explores the depths of love, fiendish greed and the power of vengeance. The drama is set during the 17th century Salem witch trials and written by Miller during the height of 1950s McCarthyism.
“The Crucible” marks Madebach’s debut with the St. Bart’s Players. Since moving to New York from Georgia in 2009, she has performed with several theater companies.
