Brooklyn attorney charged with punching client’s ex-husband
Brooklyn attorney Patrick Bisogno, 49, has been charged with attempted assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree after allegedly punching his client’s ex-husband, John Libertella, in a court office elevator on May 9.
Bisogno, a partner at the firm Bisogno & Meyerson, is representing his sister-in-law in a child support case in Staten Island’s Family Courthouse, located at 25 Hyatt St. The alleged altercation occurred after Bisogno, called his ex brother-in-law, John Libertella, a “deadbeat dad.”
Bisogno told the Staten Island Advance that he was merely trying to block Libertella from videotaping him in the court elevator. Asserting that the allegations against him were a “ploy” to have him removed as the attorney in his sister-in-law’s case, Bisogno did admit that he called Libertella a “deadbeat dad.”
According to the complaint, Bisogno’s ex-brother-in-law suffered “substantial pain” and “fear[ed] for his physical safety” after the alleged altercation which occurred a little before 10 a.m. Libertella was taken to Richmond University Medical Center.
Bisongo did not return a call from the Brooklyn Daily Eagle for comment.
