Are you ready for the summer?

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is after it kicked off the season with a Swing Into Summer golf outing at the Dyker Beach Golf Course in Dyker Heights on Monday with over 100 local residents, politicians and business leaders taking part in the annual golf classic.

“I try to come to these events as much as possible because the Brooklyn Chamber is so important to Brooklyn,” Assembly Member Alan Maisel said. “You are the blood of Brooklyn because of what you do for our borough.”

Guests in attendance got to partake in a round of golf at the pristine and most highly played public golf course in the country. Afterward, they were treated to dinner and some were lucky enough to win some impressive raffle prizes that includes Yankees and Mets tickets, gift baskets from local businesses and an all-expenses paid night out in Brooklyn.

Raffle prizes at the outing included Yankees and Mets tickets, restaurant gift certificates, golf equipment and an iPad Air.

Food and beverages were served after the outing and was provided by the Dyker Beach Golf Course. The cake was practically a piece of artwork served by the Bay Ridge Bakery.

“This is doing a great service for the chamber because this helps fund a lot of their activities throughout the rest of the year,” Councilman Vincent Gentile said. “Thank you for being here.”

The outing was not just meant for golfers, but was a fun day that brought out a lot of business leaders just looking to network and socialize in a relaxed setting. Many were there simply to help the chamber raise money for its many events such as its many business expos and the upcoming Summer Soiree and the Army Week Gala. Some of its signature programs include BKLYN DESIGNS, Brooklyn Goes Global and Brooklyn Eats.

The chamber helps to promote the borough's economic development by championing businesses throughout the county and prides itself as a resource for that provides new opportunities and promotion. Sometime within the next month it is expected to announce it’s 1,700th member which is unprecedented.

“Right now Brooklyn is thriving and we’d like to think that the chamber plays a big role in that,” said Carlo Scissura, president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. “This outing is very important for us as it allows us to run a lot of the other events that showcase the borough and the businesses in it.

“Today we had a great outing, it was a beautiful day, we had another sell out and our best prizes for the raffle ever. This was a big success. I’d like to thank all of our sponsors that played a big role in helping to pull this off and, of course, our golf committee and the staff at the Dyker Beach Golf Course. Everyone did a terrific job here today.”
