Good morning. Today is the 109th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle on April 19, 1901, reported that the Christian Science organization had set up an office at the Temple Bar building at Court and Joralemon streets. Twenty “healers” would be practicing within the office, the Eagle reported, and leaflets and books about Christian Science would be distributed. “The chief work of the Institute,” said the Eagle, reflecting widespread popular skepticism about Christian Science at the time, “will be taking in shekels from those who are willing to pin their money and their hope on the Scientists.”

Well-known people who were born today include actor Tim Curry (“The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Amadeus,” “My Favorite Year”), actress Ashley Judd (“High Crimes,” “Double Jeopardy”), actor Tony Plana (“Ugly Betty”), singer-songwriter Alan Price of the Animals and racecar driver Al Unser Jr.
