Brooklyn Industries is coming to Fulton Mall, joining a swelling list of national retailers that are changing the mix of stores there.

“We are very excited that another store is opening,” a spokesperson for Brooklyn Industries, whose main offices are at 20 Jay St. in DUMBO, told the Brooklyn Eagle. The rental was also confirmed to the Eagle by the building’s owner, Brooklyn Law School.

The new outlet for this manufacturer and seller of T-shirts, messenger bags and other casual wear is at 342 Fulton St. at Boerum Place, on the Brooklyn Heights end of the outdoor mall, opposite Shake Shack. The space was previously occupied by an HSBC bank branch.

Brooklyn Industries will join an increasing number of impressive, nationally known mid-price-range stores that have been coming to the Fulton Mall during the last few years Aeropostale, Shake Shack, the Gap as well as others that are on the way. For example,a new building for H&M is under way, Century 21 will be part of the part Phase 2 of the new City Point development when it opens in 2015 at Albee Square, TJ Maxx is coming to the Offerman Building, and Starbucks’ new location at 348 Fulton St. looks almost complete.

“This  shows how better-quality retail is moving to the Fulton Mall, and Brooklyn Industries will definitely help the Mall continue to become an even more important retail destination,” said Laurie Raphael of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.

For years, the Mall has been a destination for discount shoppers who favored stores like Conway and Cookies.

Brooklyn Industries already has seven Brooklyn locations — on Front Sreet in DUMBO, Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, Seventh Avenue in Park Slope, Smith Street in Boerum Hill, Broadway in south Williamsburg and Bedford Avenue in North Williamsburg.

The spokesman said the Fulton Mall opening “will be very soon,” and that there is no plan to close the nearby store at Smith and Atlantic, she said. “It’s a different demographic.”

Brownstoner first reported the slighting of two Brooklyn Industries banners outside the new location.
