David Ehrenberg, currently executive vice president at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, has been appointed as the new president and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. (BNYDC), the not-for-profit company that manages the 300-acre, city-owned industrial park in northwest Brooklyn.
He replaces Andrew Kimball, who was appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2005 as president and CEO. Kimball left his position recently to join the real-estate management and asset development firm of Jamestown Partners.
Ehrenberg and his team will oversee the development of more than one million square feet of new industrial space within the yard, upgrading the yard's infrastructure, leasing space and overseeing employment programs.

“Part of the legacy of the yard is not only attracting hundreds of small businesses in diverse industries but putting in place a professional, business-minded development team, and David continues that,” said Alan Fishman, chairman of BNYDC. “David’s experience in real estate and economic development makes him a great fit for the Brooklyn Navy Yard.”

Prior to his appointment, Ehrenberg was co-head of the Real Estate Transaction Services group at the Economic Development Corp. Before joining NYCEDC, he worked at South Brooklyn Legal Services as the coordinator for a microenterprise program.
The 300-acre Brooklyn Navy Yard, the leading industrial park in New York City, has 4.5 million square feet of leasable space. It contains 40 rentable buildings with more than 300 tenants, and is now 99 percent occupied. The Navy Yard is currently undergoing an expansion that is expected create more than 1.8 million square feet of new space and 2,500 jobs during the next two years.
