Good morning. Today is the 101st day of the year. It is the anniversary of the Bataan Death March in 1942. Japanese soldiers herded thousands of American and Filipino prisoners together at Bataan, Philippines, and began a march to Camp O’Donnell near Cabanatuan. During the six-day march prisoners were given only one bowl of rice. More than 5,200 Americans and thousands of Filipinos lost their lives.

Well-known people who were born today include singer-songwriter Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, sportscaster and Hall of Fame football coach John Earl Madden, actor Harry Morgan (“M*A*S*H*,” “Dragnet”), actor-producer Steven Seagal (Hard To Kill, Out for Justice) and actor Max Von Sydow (The Seventh Seal, The Emigrants).
