Good morning. Today is the 113th day of the year. On this day in 1902, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported on the theft and recovery of a silver tea set that had once belonged to England’s King George III. The items, which included a silver tray, a teapot, a coffee pot, a mug and a sugar bowl, were stolen by a “sneak thief” from the home of “shipping magnate” Henry R. Mallory at 128 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn Heights. All were engraved with the royal British emblem. Fortunately, police recovered several of the items at a Manhattan pawnshop the following day.

Well-known people who were born today include former ambassador and child star Shirley Temple Black (“Heidi,” “Curly Top,” “Little Miss Marker”), filmmaker Michael Moore (“Sicko,” ‘Bowling for Columbine,” “Fahrenheit 9/11”), actor Lee Majors “The Six Million Dollar Man”) and baseball player Andruw Jones.
