The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Aug. 17, 1902, reported on a target-shooting match between the Brooklyn Naval Battalion, based at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and the Manhattan Naval Battalion. The contest was visible from both Coney Island and the Rockaways.

Levy’s Unique New York tours on Sunday will sponsor a bike ride along the border of Brooklyn and Queens. Participants will see Netwown Creek, East Williamsburg, Bushwick, Broadway Junction, Cypress Hills, East New York, Canarsie and more in Brooklyn. In Queens, they will see Evergreen Cemetery, Ozone Park, Long Island City, Woodhaven and the edge of Howard Beach. Meet at the corner of Metropolitan and Scott streets at 2 p.m.
