Good morning. Today is the 240th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Aug. 27, 1902, reported that a passer-by discovered a baby that, though unhurt, had been thrown from a window on Driggs Avenue. After police investigated, they arrested Barbara Bernhard, 27, who was unmarried. The baby was left in the custody of the “city nurse.”

Well-known people who were born today include musician Daryl Dragon, the “captain” of the Captain and Tenille; tennis player Carlos Moyer; actor-writer Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman; and actress Tuesday Weld (“Dobie Gills,” “Looking for Mr. Goodbar”).
